Sam Bates

Hitting and Defensive Instructor

Sam Bates grew up in Cabot, Arkansas and played his first two years of college baseball at Crowder Jr College.  There he earned All-Region 16 team honors and was named a NJCAA All-American.  Sam was drafted by Florida Marlins in the 2010, but choose not to sign. 

From there he played for the Arkansas Razorbacks.  While at Arkansas, Sam majored in sports management and received a minor in business.  Achieving All-SEC honor roll both years, awarded the CWS-Highest Cumulative GPA award, all while helping lead the 2012 Razorbacks to the College World Series.

Sam was drafted and signed with the Kansas City Royals in the 2012 MLB where he begins his two year career.  Sam led his minor league team in Homeruns, RBI’s, Slugging Percentage and OPS amongst other offensive categories. As a professional he played all three outfield positions and the corner infield positions.  His knowledge of the game and expertise in hitting and defensive instruction makes him an impeccable teacher.  As a coach, he enjoys seeing his players develop in all Facets of the game and becoming well-rounded athletes.
